Under #JeffBezos' direction, the Earth Fund launched the AI for #Climate and Nature Grand Challenge, with grants totaling a whopping $100 million. Through the use of contemporary AI, this project aims to reduce the effects of climate change and protect the environment while also promoting cooperation between environmental organizations and #AI specialists.

The competition intends to encourage creative ideas centered on #sustainable proteins, #biodiversity preservation, and #power grid optimization across several rounds. Up to 30 seed awards will be given out in the first round, with the possibility of grantees getting up to $2 million in the second phase. In addition, mentorship and access to crucial resources will be provided.

Notably, the fund emphasizes collective efforts, favoring group submissions over individual pitches. Vice Chair Lauren Sánchez underscores the transformative potential of AI in addressing pressing global issues. Previously, the Earth Fund allocated $791 million to 16 organizations, drawing both praise and criticism for its funding decisions.

Critics contend the Earth Fund favors well-funded organizations over grassroots organizations and uses it to "#greenwash" #Amazon's #carbon footprint.
